Manuscript Formatting

Our rules for manuscript formatting are incredibly simple, which makes it all the more important that you follow them to the letter.

FONT

All we ask for is a clear, legible font of a reasonable size. Ideal choices include Arial, Times New Roman and Courier, in a 12pt size but, so long as we can read it without straining our eyes too much, anything is acceptable.

SPACING AND PARAGRAPHS

All manuscripts must be double-spaced (that is, a space between each line of text). The first line of each paragraph should be indented and there should be no additional space between concurrent paragraphs. If you wish to indicate a narrative break of some description, then please use three asterisks (***) between paragraphs to indicate this.

QUOTATION MARKS

We prefer the use of double quotes (” “) to indicate speech and single quotes (‘ ‘) to indicate speech within speech.

Examples

“That’s absurd,” said John

“And then John said ‘that’s absurd’,” said Paul.

These are the only rules we have in respect of formatting, but consider them set in stone. Any submissions with illegible fonts, single-spacing or incorrect use of quotation marks will be returned to the writer unread.

As long as you can meet these conditions, feel free to send us your best work.
